Android Event Cancelled Due to Hurricane Sandy

In a front-page Apple could only dream of, Google's Major event in New York this coming Monday has been adjourned due to an impending hurricane threat. Hurricane Sandy is nearer, and as such, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in response to the incoming storm, Google’s event was set to be held on a waterfront pier, which is now in an evacuation zone.

Hurricane Sandy will not affect Microsoft Windows Phone 8 event due to take place in San Francisco. 

With Microsoft’s event assuring that all is not lost for technology fans, we’re certainly very anxious to get our hands on a Windows Phone 8 device, I’m sure you are too.

We know, it’s not good news if you’re an Android fan, but I’m pretty sure all this delay will not have any adverse effects on the upcoming flood of Nexus devices. Also the Nexus 10 slate revealed a couple of days ago, we will also see a 32 GB storage Nexus 7, an LG branded Nexus 4, and without forgetting to mention, Android 4.2.

Given the great accomplishment of Jelly Bean 4.1 and its fluid operation, customers will be after more of the same from the next device. Android has had a tough time competing with rival – iOS – in terms of fluidity in the OS, but with Google declaring all hands on deck on lag, they finally seemed to get things right.

We will be informed of when the event is being rescheduled for, but with Microsoft and Apple about to make profits on Hurricane Sandy’s path of destruction, we suspect Google will not be leaving it too long before showing the tech world their most recent projects.

I cannot wait to see the LG branded Nexus 4.

Microsoft Windows 8 Event

The next big tech event this is coming our way, this time, courtesy of Microsoft, and it is being held in New York City. Not wanting to stay behind the competition and to make sure that they create the maximum amount of folks interested, Microsoft has stated that this event will be streamed live to people around the world.

The live Webcast will begin at 16:15 BST / 8:15am PT (click here to see what time it will be in your region) today and will give potential customers and tech folks in general a chance to see Microsoft executives and partners go over the major features of the new Windows 8 OS. The US based software giant has choosen to hold and broadcast the event live in the hopes that it will gather more momentum for the launch.

In addition to the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft will also reserve parts of the event that will be dedicated to the Surface tablet that has proved so successful early on (at least in terms of early pre-order sales). With the launch of Windows 8, Microsoft is attempting to usher in a new era of personal computers that they are banking on being sleek and lightweight and that feel equally as comfortable to use through a touchscreen display, or with a more familiar mouse and keyboard.

In addition to the Windows 8 launch webcast, Microsoft is also holding a separate virtual Surface tablet focused webcast at 1:30pm EDT. The secondary broadcast is dedicated to showcasing the Surface hardware, demonstrating its main features and functionality as well as covering all of the different purchase options that will be available to consumers when the release date finally lands on Friday.

We may already know what Microsoft has in store for us with this launch, and unlike an Apple event, it isn’t shrouded in mystery but that shouldn’t detract from what will be a couple of great and informative webcasts that introduce some fantastic hardware and software.

Microsoft Surface Event Full Keynote Video

So, the Microsoft secret is out, it's a tablet PC and it looks great. I think it is great that Microsoft decided to create the hardware and the software of this product. I hope it's everything they said it will be in the keynote.

WWDC 2012 Keynote Video

Ok, now that the WWDC keynote is finished we can rejoice with all the Apple goodies we have for this year!
My favourite is iOS 6 and Siri with locations and services information in the UK. This was long overdue. The Macbook line with the retina display is amazing but I would not go out tomorrow and buy a £3000 notebook. That's not me.
