Reports Confirm That a Sequel to The Google Nexus 7 is Coming Out in May

A new Google Nexus 7? Yes please. After massive success with its hook-up with Google, Asus is set to reveal the follow up to the super cheap Nexus 7 Android tablet very soon – boasting better specs and a similar price tag to take on the iPad mini. Is this your next Android slate?
According to 'DigiTimes’ well placed sources, the Google Nexus 7 sequel is set to be released in May, and priced at around $249 (£164.50), and aimed squarely at taking on Apple’s iPad mini – only this time, expect a pixel packed high-res screen following on from the Nexus 10.
Sources say Asus is also getting ready to launch a new smartphone around June, powered by an Intel Atom chip. The new handset is expected to come packing a large 5-5.5-inch display – phablet style – though it’ll have to be something spectacular to challenge the mighty, looming Samsung Galaxy S4.
Are you looking forward to a next-gen Nexus 7, or are you firmly in Apple’s camp? Let us know what you think in the comments below. [Source]

Dell Releases The XPS 18. A Monster of a PC That is Also a Tablet

There’s a new tablet in town, but it’s not quite what you’d expect. Meet the Dell XPS 18 All-in-One, a desktop computer with an 18.4-inch screen – that you can carry around, slate style!
Announced at the SXSW conference in Austin, Texas this week, the Dell XPS 18 takes more than a few cues from Asus’ insane all-in-one-slash-Android-tablet. Plonk it on your desk, and it acts as a regular Windows 8 machine with a touchscreen you can prod your way around, powered by an Intel Core low power processor.
Need to leave the study? No problem. You can simply pick the Dell XPS 18 up and carry it around away from the mains. It’s got a kickstand built in for both standing tall and shallow, and weighs just over two kilograms – not too shabby for something so large. It doesn’t boot into Android like Asus’ monster, but Windows is now finger friendly, so it’s no bad thing.
Right now, Dell is keeping schtum on everything from price to release date, but we’ll keep you clued in as soon as details hit. In the meantime, let us know what you make of the concept in the comments below. Would you ever use a tablet this big? [Source]

The iPad 'iSchool' Pilot Program Gains Traction in This Idaho Elementary School

Paul Elementary School in Minidoka County, Idaho, is where iSchool Campus recently implemented Apple's iPad in its education pilot test. In the program's first two and a half months, students and teachers have been provided with Apple's latest full-size iPad for use in the classroom.

In a promotional video posted online, faculty at Paul Elementary praise the iSchool Campus program as an effective way to engage students. Principal Colleen Johnson said the iPad has dramatically changed how her school operates, and she anticipates Apple's tablet will be able to completely replace textbooks in the future.

"This is our resource, and it's limitless," she said.

Fifth-grade teacher Ashlee Johnson said the adoption of the iPad has given students the ability to take ownership of their learning, which fosters genuine excitement in the classroom.

"They're excited to learn, they're excited to show you what they know," she said. "They're allowed to use their higher computing skills. It allows the kids to be more creative."
