LG Confirms That The Nexus 4 in White Will be Available Globally in The Next Few Weeks

Nexus 4 White

LG finally confirms it'll release a version of the Nexus 4 smartphone in white. The story was originally leaked in January, the unit comes with the exact same 4.7" 1280 x 768 IPS screen, a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, and 2GB of memory RAM as its black sibling. LG states that the Nexus 4 White should be available to buy in Hong Kong as of now, before worldwide release in the coming weeks.
No details yet on whether this flagship smartphone is going to be available at Google's Play Store.

The World's First OLED HDTV With a Curved Display Will be Released by LG

We heard that the curved OLED HDTV prototypes LG showed at CES would be coming soon, and now it's official. A Korean press release indicates we can expect the 55EA9800 to launch in the next month, with shipments starting in June. According to the specs, its 4.3mm depth results in a weight of just 17kg, probably thanks to a carbon-fiber reinforced frame. Like an IMAX theater screen, the edges are curved towards the viewer to provide a more immersive feeling. Given the fact that we're still waiting for LG's flat OLED TVs to see a wider release we doubt it will arrive on US shelves any time soon, but until then you can check out our in-person pics from CES below, and a video after the break.
Update: LG sent over the English press release, which confirms pre-orders start today at more than 1,400 retail locations with a price of 15 million Korean won ($13,500), a healthy bump over the standard version's $10K MSRP. Release dates and pricing for non-Korean markets are coming "in the months ahead," check after the break to read all the details first hand. [Source]

Beautiful LG OLED TV Hits UK Stores For a Modest £10K

LG’s been wheeling out its giant, gorgeous 55-inch OLED TV at tradeshows for years, but now at long last, it’s going on sale in the UK. Want one? You’ll need to smash open more than a few piggy banks.
The South Korean gadget giant is bringing its brand new set exclusively to Harrods it’s available for customers to pre-order for delivery in July for a cool £9,999. OLED TVs use similar tech to the dazzling screens on Samsung’s Galaxy S phones – they don’t need a backlight, and pixels can be turned on and off individually, meaning you can get stunning contrast on screen at once, with true blacks and bright whites. But they’re also vastly more difficult to produce at large sizes, which is why LG’s facing little competition in the OLED telly area right now.
At just 4.5 millimetres thin and weighing in at less than 10kg, LG has stuffed in a massive 55-inch OLED panel that screams picture quality along with its web-connected smart TV tech and built-in 3D skills.
Of course, the only thing to consider when plonking down cash for LG’s new TV is whether or not to splurge out on LG’s other world’s first TV set at Harrods: the massive 84” Ultra HD TV that LG showed off in November.
Is this your next TV or are you waiting for a smaller OLED set to hit the high street? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. [GadgetShow]
