Straight after
yesterdays rumours, Yahoo and Tumblr have announced together a "definitive
agreement" for the Yahoo to obtain the Tumblr for $1.1B.
The finalised
agreement is clear that Tumblr will soon be "operated independently as a
different business" using its own branding and type of development. An
honestly worded press release states that the contractual arrangement will help
Yahoo " never to mess it up" and promises that the 300M monthly users
of the blogging based website will remain seeing Tumblr's " unmistakeable,
class, and commitment to give power to creators."
If all of this is fact,
those individuals who have been said to have fled to WordPress, for
concern about Tumblr being power down or changed in any major way, might have
been a bit premature.
