Those folks aboard the International Space Station are witness to all manner of incredible natural wonders - the Northern Lights, storms.
So it must be particularly poignant when a little bit of humanity manages to burst through all this as happened when the Ariane 5 rocket punched through the atmosphere.
The image was captured by NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio on Thrsday.
The Ariane 5 is c arrying the ABS-2 and Athena-Fidus satellites into orbit and marked Arianspace's 250th launch.
