Apple is
currently selling a brand new 16GB iPod touch model in its online store. When
the 5th generation iPod touch was launched
in 2012, it was just obtainable in 32GB and 64GB models; Apple
continued to offer the 16GB and 32GB versions of the 4th generation model.
The iPod
4G now seems to have been discontinued and only the newest iPod 5G 16GB model
is available, which comes with a 4" Retina display, dual-core A5
processor, and front facing camera in exactly the same 6.1mm shell.
The new
iPod comes with no rear camera at all, however, and Apple has additionally
omitted the "loop" lanyard hook. The newest 16GB iPod touch can be
acquired now for $229 in black and silver design. Apple says it'll ship within
24 hours.
Apple
informed The Loop that to date it has sold over 100M iPod touch units since
its launch in 2007, up from 82 million in July 2012.
