The Galaxy S4
may have only just been released by Samsung, but already, the Korean outfit
appears to be planning a whole host of spin-off versions of its flagship
handset. As with last year’s release of the S III, which eventually spawned a
multitude of different variants, Samsung is looking to widen the appeal of the Galaxy S4 with a sparse
line-up. Following in the footsteps of the already-speculated Galaxy S4 Mini and a
further, waterproof / dustproof model, SamMobile reports that the company is
preparing a Galaxy S4 Zoom, complete with a 16-megapixel camera.
The camera of the standard Galaxy S4,
while perhaps still no match for the PureView of the Nokia Lumia 920, more than
holds its own; but there is room for improvement, and it looks as though
Samsung wishes to bring these improvements sooner as opposed to later. It would
be naïve to presume that a bump in megapixels will automatically equate to
vastly improved images and videos, but from what SamMobile gathers, the Galaxy
S4 Zoom will be very focused on that photography market.
Samsung is very
keen on piquing the interests of wannabe photographers, as illustrated by last
year’s release of the Galaxy Camera, and with so many consumers now considering
the quality of images and video among their main concerns when smartphone
shopping, the Galaxy S 4 Zoom would seek to capitalise on that.
As well as the 16-megapixel camera,
the device is said to feature 4.3-inch qHD display, 8 gigs of internal storage
space, a microSD slot, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and Android Jelly Bean. So while the
camera will be at the higher-end of the hardware spectrum, most of the other
internals will see the device itself take a mid-range stance.
SamMobile touts
it as arriving either next month or the month after, and should certainly be on
the radar of those of you out there partial to taking photos on your
smartphone.
If this handset is to make it to
market in June or July as the report suggests, then we would expect some kind
of official announcement in the near future. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears
out for any other information pertaining to the Zoom, so stay tuned to our
coverage here at Everything Tech! [Source]
