Google issued an update for its iOS Gmail client on Monday that adds several
useful features that will help users stay within Google’s products. You can now
automatically launch YouTube, Google Maps or Chrome if a link is embedded in an
email. That means you won’t need to leave Google’s ecosystem and you won’t
accidentally launch an address in Apple Maps or a web site in Safari.
The implementation is purely optional, and you’ll need Google Maps,
Chrome and YouTube installed first if you want to take advantage of the
features. Google said you can turn off the automatic linking in the in-app
settings. The software now also has support for signing out of a single
account, such as your work or personal account, without having to sign out of
both at the same time.
