Babel Chat Service Rumoured to be Introduced by Google Will Apparently be Introduced as Hangouts

Google hasn't even officially launched Babel, but word on the street has it that the aforesaid term was being used internally to reference a new, unified chat platform. Now, TechRadar is reporting that Babel will simply become a part of Google Hangout almost certainly as a means to continue the art of subtly shoving Google+ onto every user it can. Twitter Music to See an Imminent Release

Twitter Music, a new standalone iOS music-discovery app based on wearehunted.com, is expected to launch at the Coachella festival, most likely tomorrow, according to AllThingsD. Twitter acquired the music discovery service wearehunted.com last month.

The app integrates with third-party music apps and services like iTunes and SoundCloud to allow you to listen to clips of music it thinks you may like. Recommendations will be based on a number of different criteria, one of them the Twitter feeds you follow, the rest as yet unknown …

Early indications are that you’ll only be able to listen to short clips in most players, as most of the third-party music apps don’t have licences to play entire tracks not owned by you, but it’s believed that the music video service Vevo will allow you to watch complete music videos.

The Verge discovered a https://music.twitter.com/ webpage which asks you to authorise access for an app called Trending Music Web – which seems unlikely to be the real name of the app.

Google Investigates 'Drive' Connectivity That Has Been Affecting Users

If you've been experiencing issues with Google Drive this morning, you're not alone: Google's status page for its various services indicates the company is investigating an issue with its storage locker and documents solution. A number of Verge staff members across the US and in the UK are experiencing issues connecting to Drive over the web, and we've heard from other users and seen reports across Twitter that we're not alone. While access on your computer might be spotty, the iOS and Android apps seem a bit more stable at the moment. Right now, it appears to be isolated to Drive, as Google doesn't list issues with any other services, but that's little comfort for those who use Drive and Docs to get work done. We've reached out to Google and will update this post with any new information we receive.

Update: Google has confirmed Drive's issues, saying that it is working on issues that are "affecting a significant subest of users." The company says it plans to provide another update shortly after noon ET — we'll be keeping our eyes peeled for any changes or updates between now and then.

Update 2: As of 11:55 AM ET, Google says service should be fully restored within the next hour.

Update 3: As of 12:35 PM ET, Google says that the problems with Drive "should be restored." [Source]
