Samsung Takes The Wraps of The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3" And 5.8"

Samsung on Thursday officially unveiled two new phablets, the Galaxy Mega 6.3 and the Galaxy Mega 5.8. We already had an idea of what sort of specs the phones would pack, and now we know for sure.

The Galaxy Mega 5.8 is the lower-powered device of the two and is equipped with a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, a 5.8-inch display with a relatively low 960 x 540-pixel resolution, 8GB of storage and an 8-megapixel camera. The massive Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a—you guessed it—6,3-inch HD display (Samsung didn’t disclose the actual resolution), an 8-megapixel camera, a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and 8GB of onboard storage. Both phones feature microSD card slots for adding up to 64GB of additional storage and run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with similar software features as the Galaxy S4.

Samsung didn’t say how much the Mega phones will cost but did note they will be available in Russia and Europe starting this May.

Motorola X Phone Can be Everything You Want it to be

Ever since Google bought Motorola, we’ve been hoping for something new and unusual from the flagging phone maker, and now, we have it. According to a new report, the rumoured Motorola X Phone isn’t just one Android handset, but a whole series of phones that you can customise to your heart’s content, PC style. Who needs a Samsung Galaxy S4?

Android and Me has learned a few details from an ‘old time friend’ that promise to put Motorola back in the game and competing with the top-dog Samsung Galaxies, Sony Xperias and HTC Ones of the Android world with a whole line of X Phones.

It looks like you’ll be able to order your fresh Motorola blower straight from the web, much like Google’s Nexus 4, but these handsets can all be tailored to your exact specs, from the amount of memory and internal storage onboard right down to the colour of your device. Custom-made Google phone, anyone?

The same source says that the first X Phone will come packing an octo-core processor and will receive updates straight from Motorola itself, rather than from networks. Expect to see the first phones on digital shelves in June – which would ties in nicely with a launch at Google’s I/O event in the middle of May.

Introducing The World's Cheapest Phablet! Half the Price of The Galaxy Note 2

Smartphone upstart Blu Products has dished out three brand new Android-powered smartphones, each of them aimed at different users and price points – but it’s the biggest one that’s caught our eye. Fancy a 200 quid phablet? Look no further than the Blu Life View.

Despite measuring in at 8.9mm thin, the Blu Life View packs in a 5.7-inch HD display along with a beefy 12-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash and a five-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s plenty of storage space on the phone thanks to the 16GB of flash memory built-in, which can also be expanded up to a further 32GB thanks to the microSD memory card slot, plus a healthy 1GB of RAM to help you multi-task with ease. Ringing up at $299 (£200), who needs a £465 Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when this phablet gives you plenty of viewing space for less than half the price?

The Blu Life One, on the other hand, is a fully aluminium-clad, five-inch smartphone, that’s protected by Gorilla Glass 2. Much like the View, the One also shares the same price point and specs, but in a smaller and more manageable chassis. If you’re after something even cheaper, Blu Products has you covered with its Life Play, which is priced at $229 (£153). The low-range model measures in with a 7.9mm thin design, a 4.7-inch display and a five-megapixel rear camera. The storage built-in stacks up shorter, as there’s only 4GB of space, but that’s also upgradeable via microSD.

Each phone in the Blu Life series comes packing the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean release, a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and even dual-SIM slots, so you can have one number for work and one for play. The whole line is US only, but if you’re looking to import, they go on sale at the end of April.
