Ever since Google bought Motorola, we’ve been
hoping for something new and unusual from the flagging phone maker, and now, we
have it. According to a new report, the rumoured Motorola X Phone isn’t just
one Android handset, but a whole series of phones that you can customise to
your heart’s content, PC style. Who needs a Samsung Galaxy S4?
Android and Me has learned a few details from an ‘old time
friend’ that promise to put Motorola back in the game and competing with the
top-dog Samsung Galaxies, Sony Xperias and HTC Ones of the Android world with a
whole line of X Phones.
It looks like you’ll be able to order your
fresh Motorola blower straight from the web, much like Google’s Nexus 4, but these handsets can all be tailored to your exact
specs, from the amount of memory and internal storage onboard right down to the
colour of your device. Custom-made Google phone, anyone?
The same source says that the first X Phone
will come packing an octo-core processor and will receive updates straight from
Motorola itself, rather than from networks. Expect to see the first phones on
digital shelves in June – which would ties in nicely with a launch at Google’s I/O
event in the middle of May.
