LTE Uk Service Provider EE Announces New Plans

Want to take advantage of blazing-fast LTE speeds in the UK? You better be prepared to drop a few dozen quid, each and every month. The nation's only LTE provider is clearly taking advantage of that exclusivity with gigantic tariffs, like £31 (about $50) per month for 3 gigs of SIM-only data (and "unlimited minutes and texts"). If you speed a lot of time pulling down content on your mobile, though, a new 20GB plan makes the carrier's pricing structure a bit easier to swallow. Customers who sign up for the new 12-month "super-user" plan between now and February 28th will pay £46 (about $73), while a smaller-cap 8GB offering will be available for £41 (about $65) each month. Keep in mind that these are SIM-only tariffs -- you'll pay much more if bundling in a smartphone subsidy. Still, if you have a need for mega bandwidth for home use or on the go, the price per gig of this new plan makes EE seem a bit more reasonable. LTE Carrier in The UK EE Announces The Closure of 78 of it's Shops

UK LTE carrier EE has announced that it will close 78 of its retail stores across the country in order to cut costs. The company found itself with numerous retail stores located within close proximity to each other after the Orange and T-Mobile merger — some even side by side — so the reduction in numbers shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. EE says there are other practical considerations, though, such as low footfall in certain areas as well as the decision not to renew specific leases that are due to expire.

Staff members at the affected stores won’t be losing their jobs either. Front line employees will be moved to different locations, which EE says should help "boost service levels significantly." The situation is somewhat murkier for managers, however. Only one manager is present in each retail location, so the ones affected by the closures can’t simply be moved across to a new store. Instead, EE says that it will "redeploy" managers where necessary, but it’s currently unclear as to what that will entail. [TheVerge]

The HTC One SV debuted before Christmas, but only now has the newest, littlest 4G phone arrived on UK shores. You can now pick on up on EE if you’re after super speeds, Android and a smaller screen: read on for the details.

The HTC One SV packs in a 4.3-inch display and easy to use Android 4.0, but the 4G connection is the star of the show: it’s as much as ten times faster than 3G, meaning you can stream movies on the go, while web pages pop up in an instant. You can pick one up on a 24 month contract with EE from £36 per month.

While not the most powerful 4G phone on sale right now, the HTC One SV is the most compact – barring the 4-inch iPhone 5. Its rivals on EE, like the Nokia Lumia 920 and Samsung Galaxy S3 all sport huge displays, not least the giant 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablet.
