Apple is Reported to be Experimenting With Sizes of OLED Screens For The iWatch, Set on Being 1.5-inch as 1.8-inch is Too Big

Macotakara Japanese blog points to a couple of reports in the present edition of the Economic Times newspaper discussing rumours about the iWatch Apple is supposed to be working on.

Based on the first report [Translated], Apple has started sampling 1.5" OLED screen manufactured by  RITEK subsidiary RiTdisplay.

In the same report there are also claims that RITEK's joint venture RitFast is likely to be supplying the digitiser and sensor technology for Apple's iWatch.

These reports mirror a December claim about Apple's plans for RiTdisplay's 1.5" screens plant a seed that Intel is also associated with Apple's project, but features a detail, pointing out that Apple was originally thinking to employ a 1.8" panel in the device.
This screen, nevertheless, turned out to be too big and Apple moved over to the 1.5" size.

On the second report [translated] provides a summary of the industry when it comes to smart watches, containing rumours pointing out that Foxconn has recently received instructions for Apple's iWatch. Order volumes are quite low reported to be around 1,000 pieces, the production trial can only be described as a mini trial.

The rumours of the said Apple watch ramped up in the month after the December report that Apple and Intel were working jointly on this project, even the The New York Times noted that Apple was "experimenting" with curved display designs and Bloomberg declaring that Apple has 100 product designers  focusing on the project.

The rumours really peaked in the month of February and March of 2013 amid claims that the unit could be released "in 2013", but things have now gone a bit quite and for the past few months there have been no news at all.
