The Saviour of BB10 Has Been Spotted, Can The BlackBerry R10 Really Pull it Off?

Well hello there. Just days after the BlackBerry Q10 hit stores, bringing the buttons back with a vengeance, a follow up phone has leaked out online, promising a rock solid keyboard and BlackBerry 10 with a low price tag. Is this the phone that will keep BlackBerry alive?

CrackBerry spotted the BlackBerry R10 on Instagram. User tamarabatal appears to have snagged a dummy unit of the next-gen phone early. Based on the bright colours (Red, and a white model in the background), plastic materials and BlackBerry Curve style isolated keyboard, we’d say this will be a touchscreen BlackBerry 10 phone with a much cheaper pricetag – the premium Q10 costs more than £30 per month on a two year contract, or an eye-watering £579.95 SIM-free.

That’s a smart move on BlackBerry’s part, as though flagship phones are where there’s most money to be made, right now the company needs to get BlackBerry 10 into the hands of as many punters as possible, so that developers will get on board with the friendly but app-lacking new software. A cheap and cheery phone like the BlackBerry R10 might be just what the doctor ordered.

There’s no official launch date for this phone just yet, or a list of specs (though we’re guessing it skips the HD screen and 4G connection) but the tipster says it’ll ship “Q3” – sometime between July and September. Specs Leak of The Unreleased Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, 10.1" And 8"

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 is just now hitting the market but the South Korea-based tech giant isn’t stopping its tablet production anytime soon. Apparently it has two new devices in the works that might be announced any day now, including the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0.

Greek tech site Techblog.gr says it has obtained spec information for both tablets. The Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 will allegedly offer a 10.1-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution, 1GB of RAM, a 3-megapixel camera, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Android 4.1.2. Jelly Bean, 16GB of onboard storage (expandable), a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat and a 7,000mAh battery.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will offer a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8-inch display with a 1280 x 800-pixel resolution, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, a 3-megapixel camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a 4,500mAh battery.

Pricing will be Samsung’s key point with both tablets. The 10.1-inch Nexus 10, also built by Samsung, out-specs the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 in every area, so it’s hard to see why consumers would prefer anything over the Nexus 10. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 has extremely similar features to the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 specs but with a slightly smaller and lower resolution display. Facebook Home Leaked Before Time And Available For Download

Everyone who just can’t wait to get their hands on Facebook Home can now download a pre-release version of the software that’s apparently “buggy and incomplete.” MoDaCo has got its hands on a pre-release build of Home APKs — ”the main Facebook (FB) app (‘katana’), the now-integrated-with-your-SMS Messenger app (orca) and the Home / Launcher ‘shell’ app (home)” — that will run a decent simulation of what the final build will look like once it’s released on April 12th. MoDaCo says that anyone interested in downloading the APKs needs to have a device with “a maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 and the ability to completely uninstall your existing Facebook app” and notes that anyone installing the APKs does so at their own risk. With the Facebook Home release just four days away, it’s hard to imagine too many people bothering with a bug-ridden early version of the software but it’s still interesting nonetheless. [Source]
