Windows Phone 8 Finally Gets iPlayer With New Mobile Website And Live Tile Support

The BBC is now providing support for Windows Phone as of today, after the launch on Android, iOS, and BlackBerry.
A new iPlayer website provides the fundamental provision for Windows Phone owners to watch on-demand TV shows in the UK.
The BBC has bundled its mobile website into an application, obtainable in the Windows Phone Store, but it really just launches the mobile iPlayer and doesn't allow offline viewing. The BBC states that it is only providing support for Windows Phone 8, as a result of "platform limitations with Windows Phone 7.5."
The application, which the BBC promised earlier in 2013, can be acquired right now on the Windows Phone Store, also provides Live Tile support. We have reached out to the BBC to verify whether an app that provides the full experience will be available soon and we'll update you once we know more.
