Nokia Takes The Wraps of the Lumia 925, Slender Metal Frame And New Charging Covers [Photos]

Nokia yesterday unveiled their brand new flagship Windows Phone. The rumours were of a PureView Punching fighter, but affirming yesterday's leak it is the Lumia 925, a metal-based version of the current Lumia 920, and it does look nice.

So, not the actual PureView pumping EOS, I'm afraid, but only the Lumia 925, a move far from the polycarbonate of yesteryear and to a camera phone with an integral metal rim that doubles up as an antenna, similar to the iPhone. One of many notable updates away from the 920 is the new Nokia Smart Camera mode, with the possibility to shoot ten images simultaneously, with the post-processing features you'll find in a number of other phones right now like Best Shot and an Action Modes. This being Nokia's version of the HTC Zoe, but with each of the following shots remaining at 5MP "something nobody else does" we were told.

Otherwise, we were taking a look at a 1.5Ghz Snapdragon CPU, 1280×768 4.5" display, and the exact same 8.7MP f2.0 shooter on the rear. Put simply, the very same specifications as the 920. In reality, the greatest physical difference is the metal work. Not merely does it feel a lot better in the hand, it also shaves a massive 46 grams off the weight of the 920. If you recollect, the greatest criticism of the mobile phone was its bumpy camel lump.

Other changes are quite small, the screen is OLED as opposed to IPS, and the built-in storage has, strangely, decreased from 32GB to 16GB. Without a microSD card slot, that might prove to be this smartphone's  vulnerable point. (Full specifications are available here.)

One other curious option is the addition of charging covers, which attach on the device, and provide wireless charging. They can be found in a number of colours, including an extremely pretty red (which was seen on the shown).
The price is likely to be €469 plus taxes, so very close to $600 in the US, shipping starts in June.
