With Computex
nearly here, MSI has unveiled what
can only be classed as a next-gen gaming notebook. According to CNET,
the GT70 Dragon Edition 2 has a 17.3" display and powering this beast is
the soon to be announced Intel Haswell Processor alongside a similarly
mysterious GTX780M by NVIDIA, that's claimed to provide a benchmark score in 3D
Mark Vantage of 36,000!
To put it simply, roughly equal to the benchmark statistics
you would get from a desktop computer rig with a Core-i5 Ivy Bridge and a full
PCI-E 3 GTX670, if the report is actually true. A Steel Series keyboard is also built in,
together with a few SSDs in Raid 0 configuration and multiple video outputs,
all compressed within a laptop as thin as 21.8mm of thickness and as feather
light as 2.9 kg or 6.4 pounds.
This size and weight relates to the Stealth
variant, that includes a GTX765M GPU rather than the GTX780M. Lesser variations
will take the weight right down to 2kg or 4.4 pounds by reducing the size
of the display to 14" and shifting to a less agile GTX760M.
Price and
details about availability will be revealed when the big Taiwanese expo commences.
