Tutorial on How to Add Extension Numbers to iPhone Contacts

Only ten features of new iOS versions are generally featured at Apple keynotes, while the remaining features lay hidden in the OS. We have already unveiled many tips and tricks in iOS, and have just discovered a new one that we bring to you today.
Dial extensions can be added to contacts in iOS 6. This can be useful for business users who want to call different offices without having to dial extensions again and again. Using the tutorial posted below, you can add extensions to different contacts in the contact list.

Step 1: Open Contacts and select the contact which you want to add an extension to.
Step 2: After selecting the contact, tap on the “Edit” button in the top right corner.
Step 3: Tap on the mobile phone number
Step 4: After typing on the mobile number, tap on  “+*#” and then tap on “wait”. This will add a semicolon (;) to the phone number.

Step 5: After adding the semicolon, write the extension number.
Step 6: For example: Your contact no. is +100-2222-233 and the extension is 12 – the desired contact number with the extension will be +100-2222-233;12

Step 7: Now, tap on the “Done” button on the upper right corner.
Step 8: Call the edited contact – you will see the “dial 12” button (or whatever your extension is). You can tap on it to dial the extension.

That’s it! Similarly, you can add the extensions to any contact from your contact list. [Source]
