Skype top-up cards Available in Most UK Supermarkets

Messaging service Skype is making a big move today, trying to become as commonplace as phone credit. Starting this week, you’ll be able to buy Skype prepaid cards in big name stores up and down the land, so you can make international calls for cheap. But will you use them?
Starting today, you can now buy £10 and £20 Skype prepaid cards at more than 1,400 Asda, Currys, PC World, Sainsburys’ and WH Smith stores across the land, with more to come. Scratch off the code and you can then make calls to mobiles and landlines across the world, hold video calls with more than one person or make use of more than one million global Wi-Fi hotspots Skype offers – useful if you’re travelling abroad.

Between this and Skype’s now wide availability on phones (it’s available on Android, iPhone and Windows Phone), the Microsoft-owned company is now hoping to become the go to service for making international calls, from laptop, tablet or phone, so you don’t have to pay your network a through-the-nose per minute rate.
Will it work though? Only time will tell, but we’re hopeful, as it’s high time those eye-watering bills when you’re on holiday came to end. [The Gadget Show]
